The VOICE of the People's Church

I want to begin by saying thank you to Steve and everyone who worked so hard to make such a beautiful and moving presentation of God’s message through music and song on Sunday evening.  The number of persons involved are too numerous to name so just know that your effort and sharing of your talents is greatly appreciated.  It was great to see so many involved in the program and to have so many come out to listen, watch and support.  If you missed it, I am hoping to get a DVD of the service so that I can make copies to share with those who would like to see it.  I will let you know if I do.

It is hard to believe that it is the week of Christmas.  It seems as though the Advent season of preparation and anticipation has flown this year.  However, I am really looking forward to Saturday and Sunday.  I want to encourage you all to plan your family activities around the Christmas Eve service at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.  It will be a short service in which we sing the first verse of several of our favorite Christmas Carols, I share a short message entitled, “It’s a Boy!” and we observe the Lord’s Supper together to remember His birth and His sacrifice on the Cross.  And we will have our regular Worship service on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. during which I will address the fact that God really did what He had promised He would do.  We will also have one Sunday School class for the adults in the Sanctuary, one class for the children, and one for the youth at 9:15.  I hope to see all of you as we celebrate the birth of our King, the Christ-child this weekend.

On Christmas Eve, you can come at 3:30 p.m. and help prepare bags with blankets and other goodies which we will then go share with some of the less fortunate in our community before the Christmas Eve Service.  This is one more opportunity of service during this season of sharing.

Come join us as we give to someone who truly has a need.

Finally, I want to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS.  Thank you to all who have given me and my family gifts, cards, and words of encouragement this Christmas season.  I also want to wish you a very BLESSED NEW YEAR.  I truly believe that 2011 has been a good year for our church in spite of some of the rough patches we have treaded.  I have felt the spirit and attitude within the church changing in so many positive ways.  And because of this, I am excited and looking forward to what God is going to do in 2012.  I pray that He will continue to lead us in His direction, and that we will follow Him each day and week throughout the new year.  May each of us find new (and old) ways in which we can share God with others in 2012.  I hope to see new people and families become a part of our church family this year, but I know it will only happen if we are God’s hands, feet and voice.

I will be going to visit my Mom the first week of January.  I will leave on Sunday afternoon, January 1st after the Worship service and be back on Friday or Saturday so I will not be missing a Sunday, only a Wednesday night.  I would appreciate your prayers for safe travels.
